About me & my training

As a practitioner and ceaseless student of East-Asian medicine and the human body, I sincerely care about treating patients where they are at. Utilizing the training I have been through, I “listen” to the body and apply the appropriate treatment for that point in time.

I make use of a number of different modalities such as:

  • Acupuncture - 1) Balance method - primarily for pain and injury recovery 2) Engaging Vitality - to be as accurate and precise as possible - well suited for patients that are sensitive to needle stimulation and prefer gentle therapies.

  • Classical Chinese Herbal medicine - involves my studies with Heiner Fruehauf Ph.D, L.Ac and Dr. Joon Hee Lee DAOM, L.Ac who have different applications that stem from similar sources such as: Shanghan Lun, Jingui Yaolue, Yoshimasu Todo and teachers of their own who’s lineage ties run deep to the core of Classical Chinese Medicine.

  • Sasang Constitutional Nutrition - stems from my on going studies with Tracy Stewart L.Ac and utilizes the Bazi to diagnose patients into constitutions in order to treat recalcitrant issues.

  • Cranio-sacral therapy

  • Cupping

  • Gua Sha

  • Qigong Tuina

  • Blood Letting

Mission/Practitioner Statement

Deeply meaningful work in the world is the only way forward for me, for better or for worse. My mission is multifaceted and involves upholding a level of integrity that makes the patient’s health the #1 priority. If I hit a road block in your treatment, I have a deep and highly qualified bag of referrals I can send you to. I will do my best to embody the confucian virtue of 信 xìn (to act with honesty and integrity in everything I do), and if I can’t help you, I will be forthright about that and can certainly point you in the right direction.

Another layer to my mission is to practice, promote and educate patients on the depth of East-Asian medicine that I know is possible. These medical traditions have the ability to treat patients through very serious disease and should be held in this regard. Yes, acupuncture is great for knee pain, anxiety and insomnia but the traditional medical systems that apply needling as a healing modality go far behind the treatment of these symptoms.

My Story

I grew up in Lake Orion, Michigan where I was heavily involved in a variety of sports. As I matured and my focus on performance grew stronger I noticed how much foods affected how I felt and therefore, how I played. This started a long journey of tinkering with different diets, supplements and herbs eventually leading me to the philosophies of East-Asia and Chinese medicine - long story short.

While playing football in undergrad at Adrian College, I started engaging in a daily meditation practice and regular yoga. These methods plus noticing my dietary sensitivities and acting on them, played a large role in my success on the football field. I started receiving acupuncture treatments around this same time period and deeply resonated with this approach to treating the human body. Shortly after my undergraduate studies, I enrolled at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, OR. During my studies at NUNM I deeply engaged with the Jinjing Gong qigong lineage (led and taught by Heiner Fruehauf, Laurie Regan and Tamara Staudt) and continue to apply it to my life today. I have a deep desire to explore and understand the underpinnings of life and this reality. I truly believe this understanding goes hand in hand with a practitioners ability to help patients resolve their ailments. Today, I am practicing in Bend, OR and will forever be continuing my understanding of the healing process and the human being.
